It’s around that time of the year again, the New Year (2015) is right around the corner and it’s time for “this year I wanna get in shape” resolutions. Lets face it, we all know that cardio is the best and most efficient way to loose weight and get in shape, thus making treadmills the most preferred choice for exercise. Especially for the folks living in the northern states, where exercising outside is not an option.

Home gym vs. “the Gym”

If you wanna stick to your resolution, you might want to give home gym a shot. Research has shown that people find more motivation working out at home than an actually Gym. Has it been a while since you’ve had cardio exercise, or just any exercise? No worries, it doesn’t take too much to get the gist of running on a treadmill. First few sessions you should start with just walking and slowly increasing your pace to slow jogging. Whatever you do, don’t try to get years of missing exercise into the first session.

Running on a treadmill has less impact on your joints because of its consistent surface, and most of higher end treadmills have cushioned belts to lower the impact further more. The other major difference is that there is a significant low wind residence when you’re running indoor compared to outdoor running. But most importantly running on a treadmill is beneficial because you can control your run and can estimate the calories burned during your run.

Ease into running

I know it’s New Year’s resolution time, or you’ve exercised in the past but the truth is you have to start off easy with any exercise regiment. Gradually increase your workout load, this way you make sure you don’t suffer any injuries. Your legs and the rest of the body needs to become better conditioned before it can handle the stress that a heavy workout load will bring, so focus on short term goals.
